Fall 2006 has seen many changes at Miami University and for The Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor. Most notable are the arrival of a new university president (see above) and the extension and goal increase for the campaign.
Campaign extended
In conjunction with the celebration of the first four regional campaign galas this fall, Miami University officials announced the extension of The Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor. Originally scheduled to conclude in December 2007, the campaign has been extended to capture the excitement of Miami’s bicentennial and will continue until June 2010.
As a result of the fundraising success made possible by Miami alumni and friends, and in light of the campaign extension, the Campaign Steering Committee voted to increase the campaign goal to $500 million.
This campaign expansion will allow Miami University to more fully celebrate the bicentennial, to more comprehensively support students and faculty, and to more completely engage the nearly 175,000 Miami University alumni who are making an impact all over the world.
As of Oct. 31, 2006, the campaign has raised nearly $245 million. For more campaign news and the daily campaign total, go to www.forloveandhonor.org
New faculty initiative
The Foundation Board of Trustees voted to establish new endowment gift levels to encourage the increased support of Miami faculty. As in the past, to establish an endowed chair at Miami University, a minimum gift of $1.5 million is required. However, it is now possible to endow a professorship with a commitment of $400,000. Named faculty scholars can be endowed with a commitment of $200,000. Alumni and friends interested in learning more about these new giving levels can go to www.forloveandhonor.org or call 513.529-1230 for more information.
Gifts received between March 31, 2006, and September 30, 2006.
Several major gifts and pledges were made during the last quarter to the Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor. These commitments include: $10.5 million from Roger ’57 and Joyce ’57 Howe for the Center for Writing Excellence. $1.6 million from Edna Kelly as a gift-in-kind to the Miami University Art Museum $1.1 million from the estate of Dr. John F.
