Reunion Weekend Helps Raise Funds for Student Scholarships

Each year, thousands of alumni celebrating a Miami class reunion support their Class Scholarship Fund. These funds directly benefit students by helping offset the rising cost of a college education.

Giving Tribute textLast year alone, 111 students received $170,000 in scholarship support from class scholarships.

Among them is Cameron Berner '09, recipient of the Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund, who said, "I am able to completely focus on my studies rather than having to worry about where the money will come from. You could say that this scholarship has afforded me the opportunity to follow my dream."

The total endowment for all class scholarship funds is currently over $4 million. This year, the total class scholarship fundraising goal is $500,000. All alumni with a graduation year ending in a "2" or "7" are being asked to contribute to their class scholarship fund this year.

Reunion Weekend 2007 takes place June 14-17, with special celebrations for reunion classes plus many other alumni groups, such as the Men's Glee Club, which is marking its 100th anniversary. Thousands of alumni and their families will return to Oxford to reminisce, reconnect, and recapture moments from their Miami experiences.

To contribute to your class scholarship fund, contact Jan Ames, assistant director of annual giving, at 513-529-4635 or amesjj@muohio.edu.
