Summer 2007
Campaign Update
Totals Continue to Climb

Miami University recently recorded its best fiscal year to date - between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, Miami received $50.8 million in cash. That's an increase of 54 percent from the previous fiscal year.
Of the money received in fiscal year 2007, 40 percent was given by check and credit card, 37 percent by settlement of bequest - supported by gift of 13.5 million from estate of Lois Klawon '39, nine percent by stock, seven percent by charitable gift annuity, with an additional seven percent through miscellaneous giving vehicles.
Also, during the past fiscal year, current faculty and staff gave 47 percent more through payroll deduction than the year before, and corporate matching gifts and equipment were up nearly 16 percent.
New commitments to The Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor during the past fiscal year totaled nearly $40 million. This amount represents all new gifts and new pledges to Miami during that time period.
Reunion Weekend fundraising
Class scholarship giving was a focus of Reunion Weekend 2007, held June 14-17 in Oxford. The overall class reunion fundraising goal for 2007 is $500,000. Class reunion fundraising begins the July preceding the reunion and ends Dec. 31. To date, $342,300 has been raised. The Class of 1957, which celebrated its 50th reunion this year, surpassed its goals by securing gifts of more than $5 million overall and $106,000 for the 1957 Class Scholarship Fund.
In addition, at Reunion Weekend, the Glee Club marked its 100th anniversary with a special concert, and by establishing its "Centennial Campaign." This fund, which has already secured commitments of $65,000, will help pay Summer Tour expenses for current Glee Clubbers (Glee Club Centennial Campaign Kicks Off During Reunion Weekend).
Matching gift programs
Two new gift programs where Miami is providing matching money - for professorships and faculty/staff/retiree endowments - are also off to a strong start. Further details can be found on pages three and nine. Fall gala in Cleveland
Once again, this fall Miami will host a regional campaign gala. The Northeast Ohio Regional Gala will be held Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, in Cleveland, Ohio. The event will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel and Conference Center, beginning at 6 p.m. All alumni in Northeast Ohio will be invited to attend.
