Winter 2007
Campaign Update
2006 was another banner year for Miami University
Last year, Miami received 36,311 gifts totaling $51.9 million, the highest amount of cash ever received in a calendar year. This is an increase of 88 percent over 2005’s record gift amount of $27.7 million. The largest single cash gift in '06 was $13.5 million from the estate of Lois Klawon '39.
“Miami deeply appreciates the generous support from alumni, parents, corporations and friends,” said Jayne Whitehead, vice president for university advancement. “Gifts made in 2006 make a direct impact on the university today, benefiting students, faculty, academic programs, facilities, and much more. At the same time, multi-year pledges are key to sustaining and strengthening Miami in the longterm, which is one of the goals of the Campaign For Love and Honor.”
As of December 31st, the campaign total exceeded $251,000,000.
Since the Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor has been extended through Miami’s bicentennial, the Campus Campaign has also been extended for at least another year. The Miami University Middletown campus holds its faculty/staff campaign this spring and Miami University Hamilton will run its campaign in the fall of 2007. To date, current and former faculty and staff have contributed more than $4.6 million to Miami during the campaign. Other highlights of 2006 included the four regional campaign events held this past fall in Central Ohio, Greater Cincinnati, Chicago and New York City.
