A Message from Jonathan McNabb, Student Body President

Greetings my fellow Miamians and thank you for stopping by to learn more about a cornerstone of tomorrow’s Miami Experience – the Bicentennial Student Center.

Whether you graduated 50 years ago or just a year ago, you understand there’s something special about Miami. We enjoy a faculty that is not only distinguished in its achievements but genuinely interested in the success of each student. We share the most gorgeous campus you can imagine with a group of bright, motivated students who support and challenge one another. We embrace opportunities to be involved with Miami’s more than 350 student-led groups, which foster life-long friendships and teach real-world leadership.

The heart of what you remember about Miami remains strong. We enjoy a transformative student experience – an experience that has defined our university’s past 200 years and which remains a primary focus under President Hodge’s leadership.

We also look to the future.

As Miami’s third century begins to unfold, so do new opportunities for learning and growth. While Miami’s classroom learning remains second-to-none, our student body is learning to work together in new ways outside of class and tap into the perspectives of our fellow students. Almost any night of the week, the scene at King Library is electric as students collaborate on group projects, plan events, and engage in spirited debate. It’s a new era in the education of the whole student, and it’s the future of the Miami Experience.

Through providing a headquarters for student leadership and restoring a place of campus community, the Bicentennial Student Center will bring Miami’s students together in the heart of campus. It will provide much-needed spaces for small-group meetings and large student events, and it will provide resources and services that meet the needs of today’s 24/7 student lifestyles.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about and share in this vision. It is a fitting tribute to Miami’s 200-year history of student engagement and a remarkable gift to future generations of Miamians.
