History of the Voice of America Learning Center site
The site of the Learning Center is the former Voice of America Bethany Relay Station. Built by the Crosley Broadcasting Corporation, the station began relaying VOA broadcasts in 1944. An array of 22 antennas, powered by 10 transmitters using 3.5 million watts of power, continued broadcasting to fi ve continents in 53 languages until 1995, when it was replaced by satellite technology.

In 1996, Miami collaborated with West Chester Township and Butler County offi cials in applying to the federal government for a portion of the former relay station. Through the U.S. Department of Education, Miami received 20 acres for the Learning Center.

For Love and Honor
With gifts of all sizes, the Voice of America Learning Center will achieve its goal of providing unparalleled educational and training opportunities for the communities of Southwestern Ohio.  Please consider investing in the future of the VOALC during the Bicentennial Phase of The Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor.
